Standards for secondary school libraries: Preliminary statement (Parliamentary Paper no. 39)

Abstract or Description

Commonwealth funding was provided for secondary school libraries in 1969 to improve standards "to enable them to be effective centres of the schools' learning programmes". Recommendations are made for library buildings, furniture and equipment, books and materials. Appendices provide guidance on the role of school libraries in secondary education, selection and organisation of resources, and a plan for the layout and flow of a library building.
